BLOCK HUGGER HEADERS
We prefer cast-iron exhaust manifolds on most swaps, but for people who want
to use headers, we recommend the Sanderson Brand because they fit in the V8
Z and the thick flanges prevent leaks which are common on lower priced headers.
Another advantage of the header flange is the gasketless design.
The headers shown have 1-1/2 primary pipes the outlet is 2-1/2".
Headers with 1-5/8" primary pipes should be available by the time this
book is in print.
The header shown is ceramic coated The coating costs about $100 more (per pair)
than the plain steel headers, but we feel the extra $100 is money well spent
because of the better appearance and the greater durability. The ceramic headers
will not change in appearance or rust or turn blue.
HEADER CONSTRUCTION
Sanderson block hugger headers work well in the V8 Z, and have thicker tubing
and flanges than most other block hugger headers as shown above, which prevents
leaks. (see pictures below).
